The next disc in the series "Ukraine 13 – 18 centuries" devoted to Halych and Galicia. Here you will find literature on the Halych-Volyn principality, history peripeteia of the land under the rule of Poland, Rzeczpospolita, Austria, on church life in the region. Edition contains a lot of local history materials relating to the modern Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Please be aware that the western part of the Galicia historical region, which was settled by Ukrainian, now belongs to Poland (modern Pidkarpatske and part of Little Poland Voivodeship). In the guide you also find information on these historic Ukrainian lands.

The publication will be useful to all interested in the history of this land.

New CD of A.V.Pyvovar entitled "Kirovohrad: region history origins". The publication is dedicated to the times before establishing of Elizabethgrad (the current Kirovohrad) in 1756. On the basis of newly discovered historical sources show the progress of people colonization: the establishment of villages and hamlets, the population movement, its activities and financial position, establishing churches and formation of ecclesial system.

The publication will be useful to all who seek the roots of his family in Kirovohrad, who are interested in the history of this land.

16.10.2008 Presentation of "Myslene drevo"

In the celebration of the 400-year anniversary of the Scientific Library of Lviv National University the "Myslene drevo" publisher was presented. The presentation took place in the Great Hall of the Library (Drahomanova street, 5). In his opening remarks, Library Director Vasily Kmet said great relevance for the development of electronic publishing and libraries gave very much appreciated the efforts of the "Myslene drevo" group in the preparation of such publications. During the 40-minute speech, Nikolai Zharkikh briefed the audience with the resources presented on the website "Myslene drevo" (special attention was paid encyclopedia of the life and work of Lesja Ukrainka) and a hierarchical database "Myslene drevo", using databases "Ukraine 13 – 18 centuries" and "Kachanivka as examples. The presentation was done using the live preview – all programs shown on the screen in real operation.

According to the agreement, the University Library received the set of our electronic publications as a gift from the "Myslene drevo" publisher. These publications will be posted on the university server, and thus professors, lecturers and university students can use them free of charge.

At the end of the presentation V. Kmet said about the intentions of the library for the development and production of electronic publications by the "Myslene drevo" publisher.
