The history of Kyivopodil sistrict after 1240, at a time when it was actually Kyiv as well. From an early stage of this period, we have very little information, which is represented mainly by archaeological evidence. In the XV century Kyiv received Magdeburg rights and became a city under the authority of the Polish king. In the XVI century the city combines juridical units of magistrate, vojevoda (castle) and a Catholic bishop.
