2.5.1. In the midst of capitalism: Kyiv Podil (second part XIX century. – 1917)

Since the mid-nineteenth century Kyiv Podil finally plays out the city center, that it maintained throughout the Middle Ages. In the previous century it was an area of churches and expressive houses with economics based on trade and exploitation of agricultural suburbs. So in second half of Nineteenth century it becomes an arena of building new capitalist Kyiv. In this time high silhouettes silos, buildings of industrial enterprises, shops, cheap hotels and schools were included in Kyiv historical landscape.
